PowerPhotonic, designer and manufacturer of freeform, wafer-scale optics will exhibit at the PLI Conference (24th to 25th September) at the CCI Campus Alsace in Strasbourg (France) organised by Club Laser et Procédés. The exhibition, conference programme and discussion forums will cover innovative, industrial laser technologies for additive manufacturing, micro-machining, welding and heating. PowerPhotonic will showcase its Deposited Energy Flat Top (DEFT) beam shaper and Single Mode Ring Generator; optics designed to enhance laser performance in for Additive manufacturing (AM), welding and other industrial processes. PowerPhotonic will also be showcasing its innovative, LightForge™ fabrication service.
Dr Emma Modrate, Sales Application Engineer, said, “The PLI Conference is the ideal platform to demonstrate our industrial, freeform optics solutions for AM, micro-machining and ultrafast material processing. We are excited to show how the DEFT beam shaper generates a spot shape which creates a near uniform heat input to the powder-bed. This beam shaper is optimised to produce detailed AM components, with minimal post-production finishing. The melt spot’s energy distribution profile is designed to compensate for the increased heat caused by greater contact time in the direction of travel, as the spot scans over the AM powder-bed, whilst making a component.
The Single Mode Ring Generator creates a ring-shaped spot with precise optical and thermal management, again allowing for laser scanning, but in this case containing and reducing melt excess. Both optics can integrate seamlessly with existing industrial laser systems to enhance performance.
PowerPhotonic will also profile LightForge™, the online, design platform enabling engineers to produce their own custom optic designs. It reduces engineering time, removes costs and streamlines production. Component lead times can be as little as two weeks, for simpler optical components where no post-production processing is necessary.”
