PowerPhotonic launches enhanced LightForge rapid prototyping service
LightForge Hex Array

PowerPhotonic, an innovative world leader utilising freeform optics in the design & manufacture of wafer scale micro-optics, has enhanced its rapid prototyping service known as LightForge. LightForge allows customers to upload their own design of freeform optical surface directly through the PowerPhotonic website. Once it is confirmed the design is within the LightForge rules, it is manufactured, verified and shipped in 2 weeks or less. A choice of anti-reflection coatings is available (at additional cost and lead time).

New for 2022, PowerPhotonic have increased the LightForge machinable surface depth by almost 30%, and introduced the option of machining on industry standard 1 inch (25.4mm) diameter fused silica substrates. This allows customers to create a wider range of freeform surfaces – including lens arrays, axicon arrays, aspherics –  and to mount the optic using standard opto-mechanical hardware.
