PowerPhotonic, designer and manufacturer of freeform, wafer-scale optics, will exhibit at the SPIE Sensors and Imaging Conference, Madrid, 15 to 18 September, Booth 113. Paul Graham, Senior Product Development Engineer, will also present a paper on coherent beam combining at 11:20 h on Wednesday 17 September at N102. The conference showcases the latest sensor and photonic technologies for atmospheric and environmental imaging and monitoring, along with homeland security, defence, and counterterrorism applications. PowerPhotonic will have its full product range on display, however, it will focus attention on its Coherent Beam Combiner, aberration corrector, and LightForge™ fabrication service.
Amanda Robertson, Group CEO at PowerPhotonic, said, “The SPIE Sensors and Imaging Conference is the ideal platform for demonstrating the versatility and flexibility of our fused silica, freeform, optical products and technology. The Coherent Beam Combiner (CBC) merges light from fiber lasers into a single, coherent, high-power beam, for laser directed energy systems, a topic Paul Graham will discuss further his presentation. The Aberration Correctors address non-chromatic, optical aberrations in laser systems. Their minimal scatter and loss make them ideally suited to extreme, high-power applications, such as laser inertial fusion.
“Our LightForge™ service accessed through a portal on our website, enables engineers to have custom, freeform optics manufactured to their own design. Once submitted online, the surface is automatically checked for validity, eliminating the need for engineering involvement. Production lead times can be as little as two weeks (or slightly longer if post-production optical coatings are required) LightForge™ is a low cost, low risk, quick way for engineers to demonstrate optical system enhancements. It is routinely used by our customers to implement freeform optics in the production of optical systems.”
