PowerPhotonic, US and UK designer and manufacturer of precision, freeform, fused silica laser optics and assemblies, had an exceptional SPIE Photonics West, 2026. The company had over 170 separate businesses visiting the booth. Additionally, 21 customer meetings were attended with key members of PowerPhotonic’s commercial and engineering teams on hand to showcase innovations in optical components, advanced optical assemblies, and design enablement tools.
Highlights of the show included Group CEO, Amanda Robertson, joining other UK business leaders at a Welcome Breakfast held by the British Consulate-General in San Francisco; indicating their pro-active political, commercial, cultural, security and economic support for UK businesses. The company was featured by Electro Optics for its demonstration of MFACA micro-optics and ‘smile’ correction optics used in laser diode stacks to enhance spatial coherence and brightness. 3D printed models of Zernike Polynomial Pyramids, on the booth, created huge interest, allowing PowerPhotonic to visually demonstrate how its Aberration Correctors help resolve optical anomalies. Finally, Roy McBride, Director of Strategy and Growth at PowerPhotonic delivered a presentation at the Photonics Scotland breakfast briefing, supporting Scotland’s Critical Technologies Supercluster.
Mark McElhinney, CEO of PowerPhotonic Inc, said, “SPIE Photonics West was an ideal platform to demonstrate the breadth of the applications for PowerPhotonic’s freeform optics and assemblies. We were able to showcase our capability to address multiple growth markets such as directed energy, inertial fusion, bio-photonics, quantum computing and power beaming.”
