Clovis Younger, Chairman
Clovis’ experience spans operational and business management in various sectors including defence electronics, optoelectronics and manufacturing. Following a successful career with defence company Selex Galileo, Clovis invested to become co-owner of software company ThinGenius, acquired by Citrix Systems Inc in 2007.
Dr Roy McBride, Managing Director
As MD, Roy is responsible for company strategy and growth, with a strong focus on sales and technical development. Roy co-founded PowerPhotonic in 2004, and drove the formation and funding of the company. Prior to PowerPhotonic, Roy was Hybrids Development Manager at Alcatel UK, where he managed a team developing advanced active modules for optical communications.
Other prior roles included Electronics Development Manager at Kymata, lecturer and researcher at Heriot-Watt University, and Laser Development at Ferranti. Roy is the author of numerous publications and co-inventor on 7 granted patents.
Richard Clarke, Finance Director
Richard is a Chartered Accountant and MBA with over 25 years’ experience as finance director in manufacturing and technology businesses in the UK, USA and Asia. He spent 6 years as Finance Director of Avimo Group, a Singapore-based optoelectronics manufacturing group and 5 years as CFO of a nanotechnology spinout from Oxford University, which floated on AIM in 2005. Prior to joining PowerPhotonic, Richard was Finance Director of Xennia Technology Limited, a developer of industrial inkjet systems, which was sold to Sensient Corporation in 2015.
Dr. Robert Black, Non-Executive Director
Dr Robert Black has over 20 years of experience growing technology and consulting businesses. He joined SeeByte as CEO in 2010 and oversaw the sale of the company to Bluefin Robotics in 2013. Prior roles include Executive Consultant at Capgemini from 2008-2010 and Vice President at SAIC from 1993-2008 where he held management positions in Latin America, the United States and Europe. Dr Black has a PhD in Physics from the University of Edinburgh.
David Evans, Non-Executive Director
David has been a director of FTSE companies for over 20 years. He is an electronics engineer by training, spending his early career at GEC-Marconi, culminated in heading up the Neston Underwater Systems Division. He joined Chemring Group plc in 1987 and was CEO of Chemring plc from 1999 to 2005, and on the Board for another 6 years as a non-executive. During his time at Chemring, annual turnover increased from £21m to £745m and the Group established itself as an international market leader. In 2007, he joined Avon Rubber as Non-Executive Director and was appointed non- Executive Chairman in February 2012.
