Details of PowerPhotonic attending AKL exhibition in Aachen.

PowerPhotonic, designer and manufacturer of freeform, wafer-scale optics, will be exhibiting and presenting a paper at the AKL International Laser Technology Congress and Exhibition, 17-19 April, in Aachen, Germany, Booth 67.

AKL is the leading forum for applied laser research and development in sources, applications and production technology. Dr. Stephen Kidd, Head of Sales and Marketing at PowerPhotonic, will present a research paper entitled ‘Complex Freeform Surfaces: Design & Manufacture of Low Loss Beam Shapers for High Power Laser Applications’, as part of the ‘Optical Systems and Beam Shaping’ Programme on Thursday 18th April at 15.00.

Dr. Kidd, explains, “As high-power, continuous wave (CW) and pulsed lasers evolve, the performance requirements of the beam delivery and shaping optics become even more critical to achieving the low loss, low scatter and high conversion efficiency now required. PowerPhotonic will show a new process for designing freeform beam shaping surfaces, which outperforms current, market-leading optics. Test results for the high-power beam shaper will be shared. It specifically targets high-power pumping and coherent beam combining applications.”

AKL International Laser Technology Congress and Exhibition is supported by the European Commission, the European Photonics Industry Consortium EPIC, OptecNet Deutschland and industry associations SPECTARIS, VDA, VDMA and VDI.
